Archdiocese Sunday School Camp

During the weekend of June 20-22 over 70 students from various Sunday School programs in the Archdiocese of Western USA joined together for a spiritual retreat.  The camp was under the auspices of H.E. Archbishop C. Eugene Kaplan and attended by Father Jan Saif, from St Ephrem Cathedral in Los Angeles and Father Fadi Yousif, from St Paul Church in San Diego. The theme of the retreat was ‘Teach Me Your Way, O Lord’ (Psalm 27:11).

On Saturday a full program was scheduled for the students.  The morning began with a Prayer and then students divided into groups studying the Holy Bible. Father Jan Saif and Father Fadi Yousif and other Sunday School teachers have been allocated groups to lead Bible Study focusing on the theme of the camp.

The students were then placed in groups to work on their camp journals. Each student received a journal that was based on the theme and also the recreational activities. The students then enjoyed a morning of basketball, volleyball, water-gun fights, and football. Following lunch, the students had the entire afternoon to use the numerous activities available: climbing wall, zip-line, swimming pool, skateboard ramp, ping-pong, and soccer.

The Sunday School Summer Camp Program has been a source to nurture the bodies, minds, and spirits of the Sunday School Students in a natural setting, providing a stimulating and fun environment of students group which inspires individual growth and the values of Christian fellowship.
